We were behind The Games Today!

Every media outlet on island took advantage of the increased media activity surrounding the Guernsey 2023 Natwest International Island Games and aimed to produce unique content in an attempt to increase their audience share here in the Bailiwick, and the Guernsey Press was no different. We have a great working relationship with all of the local media and this includes the team of staff at The Guernsey Press. Planning began a few months back with Tony Curr, head of Multimedia at the Press, with discussions exploring ways in which we could create a dynamic, engaging and interesting daily show throughout the period of the games to recap the action and medals won. What we came up with we were very, very proud of.

We were pleased to be solely responsible for the design and deployment of the studio that we built at Beau Sejour for the period of the Games, which we used daily to give a recap of the medals won in the last 24 hours. Whilst we were based in the pool for over 6 hours a day, we also split our time during the week in the Press studio to prepare and deliver the show which aired every evening. We produced the show and encoded it directly to two of their Facebook pages for maximum engagement, recording the events each night for them to use in a variety of ways post recording.

From the lighting design, to camera angles and hardware necessary to deliver the show, we took care of everything, leaving the show content and on screen guests to Tony and his team to decide on a daily basis. No two shows were the same and we had to be dynamic in our approach to ensure each show ran smoothly, guests could be seen and heard clearly and all pre-prepared packages were played in their entirety to their online audience. It was the first time we had been involved in a project of this type, and we loved every minute of it, and wouldn’t change a thing, proving that our planning was on point utilising the correct hardware to deliver the job required of us.
