Last weekend saw the first pan-island livestreamed Pride event here in the Channel Islands. We were instrumental in the hosting of the event which presented a few new challenges to us, but we faced them head on, eager to enable both islands to celebrate this annual occasion here in 2021.

Some of our long term supporters will already know that we were commissioned to produce the official Guernsey Pride video 2020. We were honoured as it was one of the only in-person Pride events to be organised in Europe and, up to a few weeks ago, Jersey had the honour of organising the Channel Island Pride event this year. However, owing to a rise in COVID-19 cases the event turned digital, and that’s where we came in. Whilst a Jersey company were commissioned to produce the broadcast, as most of the performances were taking place in our sister isle, they required a Content Delivery Network (CDN) that offered them the reliability, security and scalability to host their pan-island broadcast – and that’s where we came in.

Not only did we have the broadcast experience necessary to overcome the issues that they would encounter with a broadcast of this nature, but were instrumental on the day in hosting the broadcast via our custom CDN. We  monitored its performance as the day’s events progressed and oversaw the reach of the broadcast across the world. There were two Guernsey performances that were to feature on the pan-island broadcast which we broadcast successfully and integrated within the pan-island livestream. Viewers of the livestream visited from all over the world, including South Africa, United States, Greece, France, Canada, Spain and Sweden, however, as we expected, the majority of viewers came from Jersey and the UK as well as Guernsey.

This was only one of two worldwide broadcasts we were tasked with delivering last weekend, check out the other broadcast here.
