I was one of a few given the opportunity of a lifetime to organise an event so special it could bring a smile to anyone’s eye. In May 2014, whilst working for the Guernsey Sports Commission, I was one of a handful of people given the chance to organise the Queen’s Baton Relay whilst it was in Guernsey. We were allocated two and a half days whilst it completed its tour of 70 nations and territories covering 190,000km over 288 days.

The team comprising of Mark, Ollie and myself worked wonders as our thoughts and ideas all blended. From organising a corporate welcome event for sponsors and distinguished guests on the opening evening, to visiting two other Channel Islands in one day, we had a very busy week. The second day witnessed the unique torch like item carrying the Queen’s message around all, but one, of Guernsey’s Primary Schools.

This short video showcases our whistle stop tour around 15 of our Island’s Primary Schools on day 2 of its journey around Guernsey.
