A unique photography exhibition is being hosted by Guernsey Museums, and organised by the Guernsey Photography Festival this month, featuring an exhibition by Siân Davey entitled ‘For the love of the land’.
For the launch of this new exhibition we were lucky enough to have Siân Davey herself who is an internationally renowned photographer. Siân developed a body of work around families in Guernsey’s local farming community. Drawing on her experiences as a psychotherapist and mother, her photographic work is an investigation of the psychological landscapes of both herself and those around her. The day after the launch of her exhibition, a sit down interview with Siân was organised with festival Director Jean-Christophe Godet.
A three camera setup was deployed at the museum, alongside audio recorders equipped with a 32-bit float, permitting us the greatest flexibility for post interview processing. The scene was set and cameras ready to roll before either the interviewer or interviewee arrived, enabling them to minimise their time on set and maximize Siân’s free time whilst she was on island. Integration with existing festival branding, and the supply of a bespoke video to be displayed in the museum exhibition itself was all part of the service we delivered last month.
The video was optimised for a television already installed within the temporary exhibition and we worked alongside their technicians to ensure it displayed as intended and at the highest video resolution possible. On the video we included a handy visual timer in the form of a timeline, which indicates the current position within the video and how much longer the museum goer has left before the interview is over.
We highly recommend a visit to this temporary exhibition, which is only available until 20th November 2022, before it is transformed into another temporary photography exhibition which will be on display until the end of the year. We hope you will agree that the video in the exhibition is the perfect compliment to the images of the Guernsey farming community on display taken by Siân.
