In December we were challenged with filming a number of new video productions that we hadn’t filmed in previous years, or filmed that style of production for that matter.

One of them that didn’t have a Christmas theme was filming the launch video to showcase the introduction of new electronic charging points at North Beach car park in St. Peter Port, here in Guernsey.

It was a fascinating learning experience whilst we were filming on location. We were keen to ask lots of questions to ensure we knew everything there was to know about the charging process, so we could ensue the video were produced documenting the process was clear, thorough and showcased everything you needed to know.

A group of engineers visited the island to commission the new electronic charging points, now located at North Beach. They were interested to see the documentary filming process as their company hadn’t previously been involved in any promotional videos to date, so we were keen to show them the simplicity of our step by step documentary process. We used an electric car to demonstrate the ease of the charging process, and after a couple of hours spent filming in the bitterly cold winds we had enough content to head back to the studio to begin the editing process. As we always do, we shot enough material on location to ensure that the client is always happy with the finished product. And, guess what? This production was no different, after a change to the introductory title screen we were good to go, encoding the final video for use online.

We were surprised to hear that there are already 100+ electronic cars registered here in the Bailiwick. Electronic charging points seem to be popping up all over the place, and with the cost of petrol on the increase, the number of cars that will want to use the points will be at a premium. Let’s hope that this is just the start of something. In a few years’ time, when the 100th public charging point gets installed, we can say we were there at the beginning. Watch this space!
