The 2nd Skipton Art Festival took place earlier this summer and offered something for everyone, regardless of whether you were you were an art lover or not. The focus for the video they asked us to create was on the public engagement created when they asked to paint a few canvases, watch them weather in the natural environment then admire the various sculptures that were created from them.
It began at Castle Cornet over two weekends in July where the canvases were painted by the general public. Over 10 canvases were completed in that month and were left to cure till August. A number of public locations were chosen for the canvases to be weathered, and these provided the perfect backdrops for the various clips to be recorded.
Whilst the recording and editing of the film took a few months to film, the finished product is only a few minutes long. But hopefully from watching the short film, available below, you will see that we are truly spoilt for choice here in Guernsey with things to do throughout the year and our natural landscape provides the perfect backdrop for any artist.
