2019 has brought about a few welcome challenges, including new projects to put our skills towards. That included the new video production for the Guernsey Employment Trust (GET) to highlight the support they provide for employers here in Guernsey.
The challenge was to combine a spoken script to camera by one of their staff members with animation in a way which kept the viewer’s attention, but conveyed the facts in a way that would encourage them to engage in dialogue, with the charity looking to develop and foster sustainable relationships between employers, job seekers and themselves. The primary objective of GET is to create employment opportunities for disabled people and to assist them to prepare for, find and maintain work here in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Not only do they tailor their support to address the employment needs of disabled people but aim to support employers and respond to the needs of the disability community. Whilst we don’t directly employ anyone to be able to sign up to their Employers Disability Charter, our door is always open should anyone in our community want to know a few tips on how to improve their film-making skills or whether they just want to see what skills and equipment is required to do what we do.
The video, which you can now view below, was produced by us in the main, which included two animations supplied by creative design agency BWI. With the help of social media we were able to secure the use of a recording studio at a local music school at relatively short notice, so that the voice overs required for the animation could be recorded to overlay in post-production. Combine that with some relevant cut-aways of the GET headquarters in the Fort Complex and some subtle sound effects, and we feel they now have a vibrant, informative advert for the trust which should hopefully encourage a few more employers to get in touch. After all, the services they offer are free and easily accessible!
