This year will be our 8th year filming the Guernsey Community awards. Planning normally begins in November when we think about what equipment we will be taking along to cover the biggest night in the charity calendar, the Guernsey Community Awards hosted by the Guernsey Community Foundation. This year we have done things a little differently and have been working with the Foundation ahead of the awards as they will be celebrating their 10th Anniversary this year. Over the past month we have been visiting some of the previous winners, most of which won awards at last years awards ceremony.

The foundation wanted to increase the breadth of nominations received this year so have begun a campaign to not only celebrate what it has meant to previous winners to scoop an award, but to hear how easy it is to nominate an individual, charity or group doing philanthropic work here in the Bailiwick. The first video to go public happened to be the first one that we filmed. That was the Charity of the Year award in 2019 – Paws for Support who we agree were very worthy winners after we witnessed their work first hand after we attended a training session at our public library in town.

There are seven videos in the series which will be being showcased over the coming weeks online in the lead up to the closure of the nomination period. Take a look at some of the videos we produced below. If you are thinking about nominating – details about this year’s awards can be found on their website –
