We were honoured to be given the opportunity to film the official video of the 2023 Guernsey Battle of Britain Air Display, this event marking our fourth year filming it professionally. Planning began weeks ago, with the best vantage point and filming position being secured at Castle Cornet, as well as co-ordination with a radio engineer from BBC Radio Guernsey, to ensure commentary of the display was obtained for use in our edit, post event.
This year we were keen to hear from the pilots who would be appearing in the display, so we caught up with them in person ahead of their public engagements, at the Meet the Pilots event held at Guernsey Airport. The display was captured using our Sony G-Master telephoto lens enabling us to get great close ups from all of the flying machines as well as mid shots, featuring those iconic Guernsey landscapes. We couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop upon which to film the display and with few clouds on the display line it ensured that full dynamic displays by all pilots, including the RAF Red Arrows, was possible.
We worked around the clock to ensure the edit was completed promptly and it was accompanied by licensed music soundtracks and branded to match the existing marketing material from the event organisers. The aerial footage included in the film this year and the audible radio call signs made by Red 1 included in the highlights video made it, in our opinion, and we hope you will sit back, relax and enjoy this 12 minute video showcase!
