The draw for the Guernsey Cheshire Home Car Lottery was meant to take place earlier this summer, but for obvious reasons it had to be postponed. Some could say it was a blessing in disguise, as the postponement meant they had extra time to sell more tickets. This year three prizes were up for grabs. The top prize was a brand new Mazda 2, second prize was a brand new Apple IPhone 12, with third prize being an overnight stay at a local hotel. So, given the delay in holding the draw and to make this year’s draw a little more special, they employed us to broadcast their draw live online.

It’s fair to say we have never used as much gear for such a short duration. We used 3 cameras, multiple microphones, on screen graphics and a countdown timer all mixed on a 1-ME video switcher, output to Facebook via Ireland via 4 concurrent internet connections, all for an event lasting a grand duration of 15 minutes!

The great work of the Guernsey Cheshire Home doesn’t get shouted about enough. They have been providing care and opportunity for islanders with serious physical disabilities since 1987. We were thankful that we could play a small part in helping to boost the profile of their Lottery Car Draw, which is helping to raise much needed funds for their nursing home which are estimated to be close to £500k a year.
