It was an honour to be invited back to visually document the latest event organised by the Guernsey Mobility Lets Go Group at Beau Sejour last week. Our smallest camera deployment, of just our full frame camera, a choice of two lenses and tripod, were taken to the event and were put to good use over the two one hour sessions.

It was humbling to witness the energy and enthusiasm with which the children in Year 5 at St. Martins School went about their roles on the day supporting the adults with a range of disabilities. The physical height of the young children was on par with many of the adults whose participation benefitted from them sitting in a wheelchair – resulting in them having the same eye line which enabled an authentic connection whilst playing the games together. The authenticity of the young people interviewed on camera shone and we chose a few of them to begin the video which preceded any action shots.

Despite a busy schedule in the lead up to the Guernsey Island Games 2023 we completed the edit, and got it signed off by the Group as well as the school within a week of it taking place. A series of photos were also produced to provide a record of the events which took place and will help document the unique relationship that exists within the Group. They continue to go from strength to strength as they complete their 5th year working alongside St. Martins School. We know the Group has plans ahead of the island games, so stay tuned to social media channels to see how you can get involved.
