One of the first campaigns we were tasked with capturing in 2023 was the profiling of the Guernsey Apprenticeship organised by The Guernsey Institute. Working in partnership with local employers and the States of Guernsey, The College of Further Education, which is part of The Guernsey Institute, is responsible for managing The Guernsey Apprenticeship.  The range of courses available here in Guernsey is incredible, and we witnessed that first hand as we were invited to capture a number of them on camera, as they required media to supplement the campaign they were going to run during National Apprenticeship Week 2023 which ran from 6th – 12th February.

The Guernsey Apprenticeship Scheme offers the opportunity for individuals to earn a salary and gain a nationally recognised technical, professional or vocational qualification whilst working in industry. We sampled a few of those whilst working alongside The Guernsey Institute, which included: Culinary Skills, Painting & Decorating, Hairdressing, Horticulture & Plumbing to name a few.

We worked tirelessly whilst out at various locations to profile the effort and energy that go into the apprenticeship courses offered here in Guernsey. A variety of video clips were obtained from each shoot alongside some still photography to help aid the media coverage & social media promotion around National Apprenticeship Week 2023. A balance was obtained throughout the filming as we heard from current apprentices still studying, apprentices in their place of work who had successfully completed their course, in addition to a selection of employers who benefit from the strong number of candidates who successfully pass their course each year.

Seven different videos were produced to run daily over the course of the week, each profiling a different area within The Guernsey Apprenticeship Scheme, whilst a summary showcase video was created to feature as an overview of the scheme for use on their website and at associated events, which is available to view below.
