Wednesday 17th May
Over the last 5 weeks we have been working with local charity Guernsey Mind and a number of the islands most recognisable sports figures as well as a few new ones – see our photo collage below.
Their new campaign aims to de-stigmatise mental health within sport across the island, and they aim to ensure it isn’t the elephant in the room. After hearing from four islanders heavily involved in local sport we are aware that Guernsey isn’t immune to the trends that exist in the U.K. around mental health issues within sport. With the commercialisation of sport increasing year on year, sponsors demanding winning performances on and off the pitch and social media providing a never ending platform for supporters to criticise and trash talk their favourite sports team online, there has never been a tougher time for our island’s athletes.
Without revealing too many of the campaign details we can reveal who we have been working with to help raise awareness of positive mental health among the 50 sports that exist here in the Bailiwick. This project was the first one we have worked on whilst utilising our new Sony FS5, so we look forward to beginning the video editing process in the next few days and witnessing our footage using the new 35mm sensor. We now have everything we require, including their new branding courtesy of their design agency, which you will see put into a launch video alongside some short social media stings which you will no doubt see doing the rounds in the weeks to come.
Where better to launch a new campaign to do with sport than Footes Lane. Thats where we will be on a Wednesday in late June when the video premieres for the first time. Be sure to check it out on our showreel next month.
