Extreme sports fanatics will have been overjoyed earlier this afternoon as a popular livestream broadcaster announced integration with the most versatile action camera on the market. A post featured on the GoPro website earlier today announced the news which was accompanied by the typical social media posts from both companies involved.
Keen broadcasters will be happy to learn that the live broadcasting opportunities available to them have expanded which in turn have enhanced the audiences’ immersive experience whilst viewing. Broadcasters with the latest GoPro camera can now integrate the feed from their action camera into their video switcher adding an extra angle to their shoot alongside their phone’s on board front and rear facing camera.
The addition of being able to record locally to your micro SD card on your action cam is a helpful addition, and the fact that you now view live broadcasts directly within Twitter’s timeline, as announced recently, only adds to the positives. The fact that their main competitor introduced this feature in late 2015 doesn’t seem to have changed the broadcasting landscape but this is one change that will certainly broaden the horizon.
At present, broadcast functionality is currently limited to those on iOS, those with an iPhone 5s, 6 or 6+ running iOS 8.2. However the integration is limited to those with GoPro Hero 4 Black & Silver models, so those with older models, like me (frustratingly), are out of luck!
