Periscope, one of the most popular live streaming platforms on the market today, has recently highlighted that 100 million live broadcasts have been created since the service launched last year. On 12th January they announced that they are bringing Periscope broadcasts, which include both livestreams and replays directly into tweets.

Whilst initially starting with their iOS app, video broadcasts, once confined to their bespoke app, can now be found within Twitter timelines bringing users a new way to experience the world, whilst providing broadcasters with a window of opportunity to increase their audience. Now you can view Periscope broadcasts without leaving the Twitter app!

Since their launch last year, there have been over 100 million broadcasts created on Periscope. Whenever a broadcast is shared on Twitter, users tap the link to view the stream in the Periscope app. They have replaced those links with the broadcast itself, which now means they autoplay right within the Tweet. When you tap the video, it automatically shows  full-screen and shows other viewer’s comments and hearts. You don’t need to have the Periscope app or even a Periscope account! Could it be any better?

Android users and those just using the web version of Twitter will have to wait their turn however they are promised very very soon. One thing is for sure, whether you are a broadcaster or not, aim to increase your audience reach, you will struggle to overlook this significant breakthrough in digital marketing!
